Elon Musk blasted for ‘creepy’ response to Taylor Swift

Elon Musk is being slammed for a “creepy” comment posted to X following Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris following the presidential debate between Harris and Donald Trump.
Swift released a statement endorsing Harris following the debate, signing off “Childless Cat Lady” in reference to vice presidential candidate JD Vance’s 2021 comment about “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”
“It’s just a basic fact — you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC — the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” Vance continued.

Since then, women around the world have been proudly labelling themselves childless cat ladies in solidarity with Harris, the latest being Swift.
Enter SpaceX Founder and X owner Elon Musk who took to his own social media platform and responded: “Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cat with my life.”

Musk’s comment was quickly labelled “creepy.”
Musk is the father of 12 children with three former partners.
“Am I reading this right that you are offering to have a child with Taylor Swift,” one X user commented.
“You are creepy and weird,” another said.
Another commented: “Elon showing the world that he’s a misogynistic pig. Elon never fails to show the world who he really is.”
“Taylor wants precisely zero to do with you,” added another.
Swift took to Instagram to officially endorse Harris on Tuesday.
Her statement read: “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” the “Fortnight” singer wrote in the caption. “I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

Of the AI-generated images of her endorsing Trump, she said: “It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” Swift continued.
“It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

While Musk’s supporters seemed to stop short of defending his tweet, some did attempt to inject some humour into the uncomfortable situation, including Hollywood actor Billy Baldwin who said: “Will Taylor Swift fans ever buy a Tesla now?”
“Walk up to Travis Kelce and tell him that, then see what happens,” another said.
Others felt Musk’s comment was in line with Trump and the GOP’s “broader pattern of mocking women who do not conform to traditional gender roles.”
“Musk’ tweet should be seen as part of Trump/GOP’s broader pattern of mocking women who do not conform to traditional gender roles,” the commend read.
“His post is misogynistic because it seeks to reduce Swift’s serious political stances to the stereotype of a ‘childless cat lady.'”
Another said: “This is what you post when you have 197 million followers? Harris won the debate tonight, and now you want to give a child to Taylor swift, who has no interest in you.
“Is this some sort of alpha male dominance thing to make you feel powerful and virile? Is it working??”
Another suggested to Musk: “Don’t become like Trump just because you support him.”
